5 Tips on Saving Money to Travel

The main thing that stops people from travelling is money, but saving might be easier than you think! To travel means you have to have some sort of money saved up, however you don’t necessarily need as much you think. There are always other options such as backpacking throughout South East Asia, it’s still travel and it will still be amazing. However you still need a small amount saved up to get you going, so here are some tips!

Obviously saving money for some people will be easy and others not so much. This could be due to commitments such as family, bills and other expenses. I guess it’s much easier for me to save money as I’m only young and living with my parents so the only money I really spend is on myself. Although I do know others my age that struggle to save little money because they are constantly spending. So here are some tips to save your hard earned cash!

  1. Sort out what you NEED to pay for:
What I’m saying is that yes if you have bills put money aside to pay them, however there are things that you may need to pay for and other things which you just want. You don’t need to buy that coffee every morning from your local cafe, make one at home instead. You don’t need to buy lunch everyday, make some at home and take it with you. And no you don’t need a new pair of shoes or that jacket, I’m sure you have plenty to get by with!
You should write a list of all the things you pay for and then sort them into two lists of what you need to pay for and what you pay for your own pleasure. Then cut what you think is necessary to cross off.
  2. Avoid shopping centres
If you are spending too much money on clothes or similar things then avoid shopping centres or don’t go for a walk down the street if you don’t have too. Keep yourself busy by working or by doing something at home. Start exercising, do yoga, draw, or read.
  3. To earn money you need to have a job, I know that no one really wants to work but if it’s to save money for something you really want then it’s worth it. Just suck it up and go out looking or a job and ask for as much work as possible! You can live your life when you quit your job to travel the world!
  4. If you’re having trouble finding a job there’s a few things you need to sort out first:   -Make a resume and talk yourself up, think of any experience you’ve had and put it on there. If you’re not sure how to make one ask someone to help you or look it up on the internet. Also try and make yourself flexible, many employers will look for this, you might have to make a few sacrifices but it will be worth it.
  5. You need to know that if you really want to save money to travel it really is up to your to work hard and save as much as you can. Work out how much you need to save and work towards that goal and remember to never forget what you’re working for.

I really hope this has helped and inspired you to work towards your goal. A few hard months of working is definitely worth it if the result is that you can travel, trust me, I know!
